Aims of Module
To provide the student with the opportunity to prepare for and then apply, within the placement environment, the knowledge, understanding and personal transferable skills acquired in the programme of study.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically reflect on personal skills, attitudes, behaviours and leadership potential in readiness for the placement job search.
2 Critically evaluate the contextual and environmental settings of the placement organisation.
3 Reflectively evidence the impact of work-based experiences on the ongoing development of knowledge, behaviours and leadership skills.
4 Critically appraise theories, models, concepts and principles acquired in the taught programme within workplace setting.

Indicative Module Content
Students will initially complete an online employability preparation course. Only if this is passed will students be eligible to apply for and complete the full placement. The content of the placement will vary. Each student will work in a discipline related to their chosen degree route. An agreed learning contract and programme of activity will be drawn up with the host organisation which will enable the achievement of learning outcomes.

Module Delivery
Delivery is by means of preparation for and then engagement in on-the-job learning. In addition students may be required to attend specific staff development workshops as designated by the host organisation.

Component 1
Type: Coursework Weighting: 0% Outcomes Assessed: 1
Description: Pre-preparation for placement by completion of an online employability course. Only if this is passed will students proceed to component 2.
Component 2
Type: Coursework Weighting: 100% Outcomes Assessed: 2, 3, 4
Description: The assessment is conducted by way of completion of an ePortfolio demonstrating evidence of work related learning. These will include a learning contract and periodic reviews carried out by placement employers.

The Module is assessed by two components: C1 - Coursework (pass/fail basis) and C2 (only if component 1 is passed) - Coursework (100% weighting). Module pass mark = Grade D
