To enable the student to develop and apply information skills and knowledge in a professional work placement.
Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

Skills Assessment; Career Objective Setting; CV Writing; Reflective Writing; Personal Development Planning; Four-week placement experience, in an appropriate organisation, as an information/library professional.
Indicative Student Workload

Full-time students: Pre-placement seminars/worshops and personal placement tutor support from academic staff during the placement period.
Distance Learning Students: Online topics/activities and tutor support (including discussion forums and chat sessions) from academic staff.
Reflective Report (70%)
Personal Development Plan (30%)
Distance learning students who have current or recent relevant work experience, which has been approved by their Course Leader, may complete the coursework assignments by drawing on this experience rather than from completing a four-week full-time placement.
