Aims of Module

To enable students to develop an advanced knowledge and understanding of international construction contracts and issues which commonly arise in connection with such contracts.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Appraise international contracts in common use such as the various forms of FIDIC.
2. Critically assess the key issues which arise in relation to the use of international construction contracts.


Indicative Module Content

Nature of international construction contracts; processes by which such contracts come into being; special features which affect the methods of resolving disputes arising from such contracts; analysis of international construction contracts in common use and the types of disputes that arise under them; particular issues relating to the use of international construction contracts in common law and civil law jurisdictions.
