Aims of Module

To provide learners with the opportunity to apply knowledge and understanding of business management practice, together with professional skills, in an organisational setting.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Investigate an aspect of management practice in an organisational setting and to evaluate and make appropriate recommendation for future action.
2. Devise a personal development plan which takes into account of personal and organisational requirements and reflect on agreed learning outcomes in management practice.

Indicative Module Content

The content of the learning experience will vary depending on the organisational setting. Students will complete a Management Report on a relevant aspect of management agreed with the organisation. In addition, learners will compile a personal development plan with their organisation and devise a personal development programme (CPD evidence) which will enable learning outcomes to be achieved.

Mode of Delivery

Delivery is by means of job experience. Following a briefing on the requirements of the module, learners are issued with a copy of the Learner Guidelines which defines learning outcomes, assessment criteria and evidence requirements. Learners then complete the module requirements independently under the supervision of an academic supervisor.

The first element of coursework is a Managment Report which assesses Learning Outcome 1 and has a 100% weighting. The second element is a CPD Evidence Portfolio will comprise the following: (a) a CV; (b) a personal development plan and (c) evidence of learning outcomes and supporting documentation. This Portfolio assesses competenece in Learning Outcome 2.
