Aims of Module

To enable students to critically appraise how strategic management theory is applicable to private, public and voluntary organisations. Together with Management Studies 1, it prepares for and complements the placement experience.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Appraise the implications of "publicness" for strategic managment theory and practice.
2. Evaluate "process" and "content" theories of strategic management.
3. Apply strategic management tools and techniques to business and legal contexts and practices.

Strategic management models. Process and content theories of strategic management. Global influences on strategic management. Applying strategic management tools and techniques. Strategic management practice in different organisational contexts.
