Aims of Module | |||

To provide the student with a focus and understanding of the underlying principles of maintaining, improving and adapting the management of hospitality properties and of developing a range of services which contribute to the core business objectives of those properties. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Critically evaluate facilities management structures and the management of its services in meeting core business needs in the light of external influences. |
2 | Explain the process of developing a hospitality property with a focus on hospitality concepts, operations and asset management. |
3 | Elaborate on the management of hospitality facilities in relation to building design, management tools and environmental concerns. |
4 | Illustrate the different methods of managing facilities to improve building performance and its support services. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Facilities management practice. Innovative and sustainable practices. Developing hospitality properties: concept, operation and asset management. Building performance. Support services: service procurement, provider selection and risk management. |

Key concepts are introduced and illustrated through lectures, tutorials, seminars, workshops and practicals to develop knowledge and skills. These concepts are reinforced through directed reading and student centred learning. |
