Aims of Module
To develop and apply knowledge and understanding of audit and assurance.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Develop knowledge of the legislation governing auditing and the regulatory framework governing audit and assurance.
2 Demonstrate application of theoretical knowledge of the audit process incorporating both financial and non-financial information.
3 Discuss current issues and the impact of technology in the field of audit and assurance.
4 Describe the process for providing assurance on sustainability related information.
5 Demonstrate understanding of key audit processes in relation to collection of sufficient and appropriate audit evidence that can be used to generate a robust audit opinion and report.

Introduction to Audit; Audit acceptance; Appointment, Resignation and Removal; Ethics and Independence; Duty of Care; True and Fair; Risk and Materiality; Fraud; Audit Planning; Internal Controls; Internal Audit; Audit field work; Audit completion and reports; Current issues - technology, accountability and sustainability; Internal audit.

Module Delivery
The module is delivered in Blended Learning mode using structured online learning materials/activities and directed study, facilitated by regular online tutor support. Workplace mentor support and work-based learning activities will allow students to contextualise this learning to their own workplace. Face-to-face engagement occurs through modular on-campus workshops.
