Aims of Module
To provide students with the opportunity to undertake a piece of supervised, independent research into a topic of their own choice from the subject areas related to their degree.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Conduct a comprehensive literature search into their chosen subject.
2 Communicate effectively within a well structured literature review of 4 - 5000 words
3 Synthesise arguments and ideas in a manner which displays critical appraisal of their chosen topic.
4 Work independently with a minimal supervision.

Indicative Module Content
In order to facilitate successful completion of this module students will attend an introductory programme discussing literature review techniques and presentation.

Module Delivery
The literature review is undertaken throughout Semester 1. This is a supervised research based course supplemented with an introductory lectures and workshops. Students will be assigned to a literature review supervisor with whom they will meet to discuss progress.
