Aims of Module
To develop knowledge and understanding of external financial reporting.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically discuss the regulatory framework for financial reporting and the requirements of specific accounting standards incorporating sustainability and ethical considerations.
2 Undertake detailed computational calculations to demonstrate understanding and knowledge of relevant accounting standards.
3 Apply the recognition, measurement and disclosure requirements of international accounting standards in the preparation of financial statements.
4 Evaluate the financial impact of accounting transactions on specific elements of financial statements.

Indicative Module Content
Regulatory framework; published annual reports including financial statements including and ESG reports; revenue; property, plant and equipment; foreign currency; provisions; contingent assets and liabilities; events after the reporting period.
