Aims of Module
To provide an overview of the key principles, practices and concepts of project management operations, the tools and techniques used and an overall understanding of the broad project environment

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Understand the project environment, recognise the project lifecycle, project tools and techniques and project organisation.
2 Evaluate the importance of project definition by reviewing options and solutions and defining project scope
3 Create an integrated project management plan using the key project management planning tools and techniques
4 Critically analyse the key risks and stakeholders within a project
5 Apply the key of process of project control, including monitoring and change control

Indicative Module Content
This module will provide students with an overview of project management and its key principles and practices; the project life cycle and its underpinning role in structuring and managing projects; the process of project concept and definition; the organisational aspects of project management, including project teams and leadership; managing the key variables of project management, identification and analysis of risks and stakeholders; project schedule; change control mechanism; effective handover and closeout of projects and lessons learned; an introduction to the principles of agile and sustainable project management.

Module Delivery
The module is delivered in Blended Learning mode using structured online learning materials/activities and directed study, facilitated by regular online tutor support. Workplace Mentor support and work-based learning activities will allow students to contextualise this learning to their own workplace. Face-to-face engagement occurs through annual induction sessions, employer work-site visits, and modular on-campus workshops.
