Aims of Module

To provide students with the ability to apply practical and
conceptual issues concerned with media production and to
explain their importance within the media environment.


Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Apply skills and techniques of media production using
relevant production tools e.g. animation, multimedia, video/audio.
2. Produce forms of media rich artefacts for a defined
purpose and audience, making effective use of designated
media.
3. Participate in a structured group task and evaluate individual contributions to the group effort.

Indicative Module Content

The module covers the skills and knowledge required to produce
an effective media rich package using appropriate media production techniques and tools. The media package will relate to a topic of current interest. Its production will be determined by a clear sense of audience need and will draw upon knowledge acquired in earlier media modules.
Students will negotiate a suitable subject (possibly in collaboration with a client) and manage the project according to agreed aims and objectives. The project will be managed and scripted through its various stages, in consultation with project group members and academic staff.
It will require the efficient organisation of resources.

Mode of Delivery

This module is a combination of lectures,seminars and workshops. Students will be split into groups and given responsibility for the production of an integrated media package incorporating appropriate media. Each group will take collective responsibility for identifying a relevant subject and compiling a package that is stimulating, informative and well produced.
