Aims of Module | |||
---|---|---|---|
The module aims to introduce students to the extent and consequences of international business activity, as well as the responses of governments. It will address the rapid growth of business activities such as global trade and investment. It will examine how governments have responded to these changes, by making regulatory changes and strengthening international organisations. It also aims to address the ways in which business managers have interacted with governments to create conditions suitable for their international activities. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Evaluate how business managers are responding to these changes, by (for example) outsourcing production or lobbying for changes in domestic regulation. |
2 | Assess the changing nature of regulatory environments, both nationally and globally. These include pressure for conformity in national regulation, and growth within international organisations, such as the World Trade Organisation and European Union. |
3 | Analyse the consequences of changing regulatory environments for business managers. |
Indicative Module Content |

Growth of cross border trade, investment, finance; regulatory change at the national and international level; domestic deregulation, international regulatory change; the role of specific international organisations such as the WTO and the EU; how business managers lobby to create regulatory conditions suitable for growth. |
