Aims of Module
To provide an understanding of the principles and practices of Operations Management. To develop student's knowledge on the concepts systems and strategies relevant to operations management and develop an ability to analyse and solve problems associated with operational environments.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Understand the principles of operations management and be able to distinguish between the different aspects of operations management practice.
2 Evaluate the concepts, systems and strategies relevant to operations management.
3 Interpret problems associated with operations and apply operational tools and techniques to analyse such problems to improve performance.

Indicative Module Content
The module will cover the role and function of Operations, Manufacturing and Service Operations, Operations Strategy, Quality Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Capacity, Inventory, Improvement and Measurement Techniques, Project Management, Lean, Just-in-time, Planning and Control Systems, Design, Facility Location and Layout.
