Aims of Module | |||

The aim of this module is to develop academic, professional, management and leadership skills and the importance of career capital to support students as they commence their studies. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Display the ability to actively listen, openly question and produce clear and effective communication in a variety of forms appropriate to purpose and target audience. |
2 | Demonstrate confidence in knowing own core values and drivers and how this impacts on professional and ethical activity. |
3 | Identify potential solutions to basic business problems. |
4 | Understand the principles of collaborative working and the importance of effective team working. |
5 | Manage time pressured activities under guidance. |
6 | Reflect upon personal development needs, learning and performance. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Using the CareerEDGE model of employability (Dacre Pool, Qualter, Sewell, 2014) students will be required to evidence development appropriate to SCQF Level 7 in each of the five areas of: Career Development Learning, Experience (work and life), Degree Subject Knowledge, Generic Skills and Emotional Intelligence. |

This module is delivered in supported online distance learning mode using a range of structured learning materials/activities and directed study facilitated by regular online tutor contact allowing students to contextualise their learning to their own workplace where appropriate. |
