To enable students to demonstrate professional skills in the design, analysis, interpretation and critical appraisal of research studies. |
Learning Outcomes for Module | |

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Critically evaluate the principles of study design, including observational and experimental studies. |
2 | Recognise the importance of research governance and integrity, including research ethics. |
3 | Analyse, present, interpret and report data using appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative techniques. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
Study design including qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, animal and cellular models, sample selection, questionnaire design, bias, confounding, validity, accuracy, calibration, precision, replicability, and critical appraisal of the literature. Compliance with research ethics and research governance framework, protocols, information sheets, consent forms, good clinical practice, and intellectual property issues. Data management, statistical analysis methods, data presentation and interpretation. |
