Aims of Module

To provide students with the ability to investigate and critically appraise an area of current interest in forensic science.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Research in depth an area of current interest in forensic science.
2. Appraise the literature and prepare a critical review.

Indicative Module Content

Students will individually study a selected area of current interest in forensic science, which may include specialist areas not covered previously on the course e.g. forensic anthropology, forensic entomology.

Mode of Delivery

This module will be delivered mainly through student-centred activity. Studies will be supported by directed reading, tutorials and keynote lectures (including visiting speakers).

Submission of final report assessed by supervisor and an independent asessor (70% weighting).

Student progress will be assessed by an interview with dissertation supervisor (30% weighting).
