Aims of Module

To develop abilities in the scholarly assessment, evaluation and interpretation of source material and its development through literate and critical argument.

Learning Outcomes for Module

On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:

1. Use a systematic approach to information acquisition and retrieval.
2. Apply an analytic and critical approach to theoretical and conceptual ideas and other information in architectural design studies.
3. Assemble a coherent, well structured and intelligible dissertation.

Indicative Module Content

The module will provide opportunities for exploration of practical and philosophical issues raised by the progression of the dissertation and associated activities such as research, data analysis and interpretation through regular tutorial contact.

Mode of Delivery

Students will research, develop, write up and submit a complete dissertation on a chosen topic related to architecture and the built environment. Regular tutorials throughout the period of the dissertation are negotiated with the individual supervisor.
