Aims of Module
To develop the work undertaken in Masters studio 3 to demonstrate the capacity to explore, interpret and evaluate the relationships between theoretical concepts and the built environment in depth. To integrate, apply and test these concepts in the context of the specific design produced in the masters studio. This focused project should sit within a holistic framework developed to resolve competing issues leading to a valid and supportable design solution.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Apply appropriate research methods to critically analyse and evaluate findings.
2 Re-evaluate detail designs that demonstrate appropriate integrated technical and philosophical investigation.
3 Appraise the final design in context of the group thesis and through collaborative analysis with related professional courses.
4 Communicate design intentions effectively by oral presentation and multi-media techniques.
5 Undertake independent learning via Personal Professional Development in the area, to learn skills and knowledge in theory and practice enabling students to gain self-awareness as a developing learner and to plan actions that will enhance personal and career development.

Indicative Module Content
In this module students will work individually, within specialist units, to develop an advance detail design thesis carried out in the previous studio modules. Each student will investigate a specific proposition generated by their design work and engage in a critical evaluation of the unit's work over the masters course. The student should demonstrate a depth of independent thinking in relation to this particular indiviudal project.

Module Delivery
This is a studio-based module with introductory lectures, individual and group tutorials, private study and design work. Students develop work through self-directed learning, and through tutor consultation. Students will be expected to consult regularly with tutors and present their work to staff, other students and invited critics at periodic reviews. Final designs will be presented orally and using multi-media techniques in open forum. Tutors provide feedback at tutorials and reviews.

Type: Coursework Weighting: 100% Outcomes Assessed: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Description: Final submission will consist of a full part 2 portfolio. Clearly defined within the portfolio should be the detailed proposition development undertaken in the final semester. Digital CD/memory stick - this should include all portfolio material including all drawings presented in the above pieces of work in high resolution PDF format. An Exhibition display of your thesis project.
