On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to: | |
1 | Critically review the complexities and drivers for delivering successful co-design in the context of quadruple helix framework, involving government, academia, business and the community. |
2 | Critically engage in the process of project definition, development, and resolution in addressing problems and challenges within communities, urban structures, and settlements. |
3 | Clearly articulate how applied co-design approaches to aspects of the built environment can contribute to solving problems faced by communities, in specific contexts. |
4 | Critically apply theories of people-centred design, including in relation to co-design and participatory governance. |
Indicative Module Content |
---|
The module concerns the use of a CityStudio model (coordinated by the University, and including appropriate collaborative working with external parties). The module will cover aspects of co-design, including techniques for the engagement of different target groups from the quadruple helix, and will deal with the need to design of practical interventions in the built environment in a participatory way. This will include consideration of the socio-economic, environmental, governmental factors that can support selection of the most appropriate co-design approach. The module will require students to engage with relevant leading edge research, and will require participants to explore how the concepts, methods and findings can be applied in practice. |

The overall module grade is based on 70% weighting of Component 1 (Coursework Y axis) and 30% weighting of Component 2 (Coursework X axis). An overall minimum grade D is required to pass the module. Non-submission of either component will result in an NS grade. | ||||||||
