Aims of Module
To provide the student with an understanding of the Critique of Modern Architecture after WWII, and the emergence of various strands of Post Modern thinking and Practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Identify and describe a range of key ideas, publications, sites, buildings and designs that represent key aspects of the critique of Modern Architecture post WWII, and the development of Postmodernism, and evaluate their significance in relation to the evolution of Architectural thinking.
2 Evaluate the significance of a range of key ideas, publications, sites, buildings and designs that represent key aspects of the critique of Modern Architecture post WWII, and the development of Postmodernism in relation to the evolution of Architectural thinking.
3 Discuss and evaluate architectural ideas through a structured piece of writing that appropriately applies the conventions of academic writing.

Indicative Module Content
The module presents a a series of themes in relation to the evolution and critique of the Modern Movement in Architecture post WWII, through the introduction of key texts and projects of the period. An important aspect of the course is the relationship between the various theories put forward, and their expression or implementation in particular forms, projects and compositional traits.

Module Delivery
Lectures in the architectural history, theory & social context of Modernism introduce the broader picture. These are supplemented by tutorials, seminars and other forms of blended learning including online activities intended to develop deeper understanding and self−directed learning.
