Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Communicate informed and critical understanding of their chosen professional context in relation to the creative industries, identifying key areas of personal interest.
2 Critically and objectively examine the body of professional studio practice, produced throughout honours’ year to identify current knowledge, strengths, skills-gaps in readiness for professional life after art school.
3 Develop an appropriate professional profile that locates aspiration and focus within an emerging creative practice, appropriate to discipline specific context.
4 Confidently communicate ideas and personal direction in relation to Honours year self-directed study and progression plan after art school.

Indicative Module Content
The module supports the development of a self-directed reflective-based enquiry that enables the student to position and confidently prepare their creative practice for life after art school. Students will critically examine and reflect upon the relationship between theoretical and practical study, within the context of the contemporary creative industries and cultural economy, to develop adaptive life-long learning skills for an emerging professional practice. Supported by a series of practical sessions, seminars, peer review and tutorials, students are responsible for the planning and management of their studies. Students will be required to evidence evaluation of their current and developing skills, through in-depth analysis, personal objective dialogue and critical reflection. This will lead to a critically creative, situated professional profile within the context of appropriate and related creative industries. The completed body of work should evidence an awareness and consideration of sustainable themes in a manner appropriate to the context of the discipline. The development of coursework within this Creative Futures module is reciprocally informed by both Contextual and Critical Studies and Independent Studio Practice modules.

Module Delivery
This module consists primarily of self-directed research and writing, with time allocated for group seminars, individual tutorials and further reading. Visits from professionals in the field, and national and international study visits, may form part of the curriculum.
