Aims of Module
To interpret subject-specific skills, knowledge and understanding, together with personal transferable skills, in the professional work place.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Demonstrate planning and organisational skills.
2 Draw on subject specific skills, knowledge and understanding acquired on the course to the workplace.
3 Demonstrate professional, interpersonal and communication skills to the workplace.
4 Discuss the function and structure of the organisation in which they are placed.
5 Make judgements upon the placement experience in relation to their emerging strengths and career ambitions.

Indicative Module Content
The precise nature and content of each placement will vary depending on the type of company or organisation, however the role and responsibilities to be undertaken by the student are expected to closely relate to their academic experience, skills and knowledge. A learning contract is drawn up by academic and company staff and the student in advance of the placement. This will outline the scope of the role, the likely range of work experience and expectations by the conclusion of the placement. Completed theoretical and practice-based project work should evidence an increasing awareness of the sustainable impact of their discipline through participation within professional setting.
