Aims of Module
To provide the student with: the ability to devise, pitch, focus and develop a creative photographic project within their own specific area of interest and to extend their area of expertise. Enable each student to apply knowledge, understanding and practical skills to an investigation of his or her chosen specialism within contemporary photographic practice. Encourage the development of individual visual language through the production and editing of their own enquiry. Reflect on the implications of their own developing, personal praxis in the context of wider commissioned photographic practice.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Devise and pitch a major body of work based on aesthetical and technical criteria.
2 Integrate research with practical experimentation to produce an outcome that combines text and a practical body of work.
3 Undertake independently a major creative project using appropriate techniques to consolidate and focus individual style.
4 Generate a body of work that reflects the creative qualities and techniques of contemporary photographic practice
5 Apply appropriate analysis and organise the written component into a coherent body of work.

Indicative Module Content
This module has been designed to further the development and understanding of individual photographic practice. Students will integrate research with practical experimentation within a chosen specialism. Students will demonstrate appropriate research methodologies, project management, photographic skills, and ability to apply critical analysis to a cohesive practical outcome. Students will create an initial project brief; explore and research methods to achieve this, identify an audience and set aims and objectives. Demonstrate the planning, considerations and problem solving skills needed to complete a professional project. The student will critically evaluate the project.

Module Delivery
Students will integrate research with practical experimentation. Each student will create an initial proposal project brief using research methods to achieve this. The student will work with a project supervisor who will meet regularly to discuss the project. Work in progress will be discussed in peer group sessions. The student will apply appropriate technical and creative solutions to the project solving any issues that arise. The student will critically evaluate the project in the form of a written report using evidence from a range of sources and cultural contexts.
