Aims of Module
To develop a professional working understanding of the role and processes utilised to manage the built assets as they relate to today's built environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Debate Asset Management in the context of the Built Environment.
2 Deduce the impact Capital Cost and whole life costs have on a project.
3 Argue and debate the management skills involved in Facilities Management, the stages of Facilities Management implementation, outsourcing and space utilisation issues.
4 Research, create and evaluate data appraisal systems for occupancy evaluation. Recognise and critically assess the relationship between costs, use, function and value. Apply the suite of Value Techniques to Built Asset Management.

Indicative Module Content
Human influences, economic influences, effects on business, organisational structures, capital costs, cost in use, data collection, FM strategies, benefit analysis, occupancy evaluation, employee satisfaction, audit procedures, benchmarking, audit techniques, outsourcing, contracts and agreements.
