Aims of Module
To evaluate the key principles of risk management in the professional working environment.

Learning Outcomes for Module
On completion of this module, students are expected to be able to:
1 Critically evaluate the integration of risk management systems in a strategic context.
2 Critically appraise the different ontological perspectives of risk/uncertainty, the nature of systemic risk and its management.
3 Critically analyse the challenges of risk management at a governance and regulatory level and within organisations.
4 Critically analyse the role of Corporate Social Responsibility and ethics in risk management systems and the increasing focus on the Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) metrics in risk assessment.
5 Critically appraise the development, implementation and role of Business Continuity Planning with regard to corporate strategy.

Indicative Module Content
The critical examination of strategic philosophy in relation to the setting and continuous improvement of performance standards; the establishment and maintenance of an effective system of risk management; all aspects of risk management are considered including, but not limited to, health and safety, environmental and security; planning and alignment of risk objectives with other organisational goals.

Module Delivery
This module is delivered in both On-Campus and Online modes. The module utilises a combination of lectures, workshops, online exercises, tutorials and other student-centred learning activities as appropriate. Online students will have access to a range of materials and tools to facilitate their learning synchronously and asynchronously, including topic guides, online chats/classrooms, exercises, group work areas and discussion forums.
