Welcolme to The North of Scotland KTP Centre
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships is a UK Government funded knowledge transfer mechanism designed to increase the competitiveness of the UK's industrial base.
The North of Scotland KTP Centre is a joint venture between the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University. More recently the Centre has become affiliated with the Colleges of the UHI Millennium Institute. The Centre is based in Aberdeen, but has projects running with partners across Grampian, the Highlands and Islands and the rest of the UK.
In 1996 a number of TCS Centres were set up around the country to help universities establish better links with local companies. This would provide companies with easier access to a local source of valuable research experience, and to help universities make better use of government funding opportunities. The North of Scotland TCS Centre was established as a joint venture between the University of Aberdeen and the Robert Gordon University in 1996 to increase the level of TCS activity in the two universities. Start-up funding was provided by the two universities, the Department of Trade and Industry, Grampian Enterprise Limited, and Highlands & Islands Enterprise. The Centre was renamed in 2003 when TCS became Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP).
