Services Available at RGU

The IT Services Department at the Robert Gordon University is responsible for the development, delivery and support of centrally provided IT systems and services across the University. This service is complimented by some locally managed systems in some Schools and Departments, which are nonetheless delivered over the same Campus-wide infrastructure.

The Department manages a campus-wide desktop installation consisting of approximately 2,500 Windows XP workstations to a user population of around 9000FTE students and 1,500 members of staff. All workstations are linked together by a communications network that connects them to centrally delivered services and, through a firewall, to the Internet via the JANET network.

Centrally managed servers deliver file storage, print facilities, Internet access and e-mail facilities to all users. To support the teaching and research activities of the University, we also deliver from a central service several hundred software applications, which can be accessed from any workstation in the University.

The Department also manages the strategic management information systems for the University - including the Finance System and the Student Records System.
