Student Printing at RGU
Printing and photocopying facilities are available throughout the university campus for students and over the Summer of 2011 printing services were successfully improved and updated with new printers deployed and kiosks updated.
Charges applied are to cover the cost of running the service, which the university strives to keep as low as possible; RGU printer costs are among the lowest; if not the lowest in the university sector.
Colour printers costs significantly more than black and white. Please note that you will be charged the colour rate when you select the colour option even if your file is black and white.
The full charges are as follows:
|Paper Size||Print Option||Cost|
|A4||black and white (b/w), single-sided||4p|
|A4||b/w, duplex||3p per side|
|A3||b/w, duplex||7p per side|
|A4||colour, duplex||18p per side|
|A3||colour, duplex||38p per side|
Printing Selection - Duplex by Default
The default setting on printers is “Duplex printing” on all devices. The means that your printout will print on both sides of a sheet of paper.
If you wish to print only on one side of paper you must alter your print options at the time you are sending your file to print. See this page for the instructions on making this change (add info)
Duplex Photocopying is not currently available.
Paying for Printing and Photocopying
Payment must be done in advance of printing and you must have sufficient funds in your account to cover the whole cost of a print out. Any money you pay for printing will be attached to your login ID, and as you print, your print 'balance' is reduced by the appropriate amount.
There are three ways to credit your printing and photocopying account:
- Online: You can credit your account using any major debit or credit card via myprint.rgu.ac.uk, log in by using your student username and password. Minimum payment is £5.00
- Kiosk: The kiosks have a touch screen, log in with your username and password and the screen will guide you through the process. Only coins are accepted. There are kiosks at the following locations:
|Faculty of Health and Social Care building, Garthdee||Main IT lab|
|Grays School of Art||Photocopier Area|
|Garthdee Library||Entrance hall (Level 3)|
|Aberdeen Business School, Garthdee||In the Atrium (Level 3)|
|Scott Sutherland building, Garthdee||In the Foyer|
|Clarke Building, Schoolhill||Entrance to the building (Level 2)|
|St Andrew Street building||Entrance hall|
- Library and InfoZone: The Library and InfoZone (at Garthdee and St Andrew Street) accept cash payments at their customer service desks when the kiosks are out of order. Any amount in multiples of £1 accepted.
Checking your Printing Account
You can check your account via 2 ways:
1. via myprint.rgu.ac.uk
2. Log into any Lab PC and look into the Novell-delivered Applications window. Click on the 'Printing' folder and then click on 'MyPrint' and login with your username and password.
No Printing Refunds
Balances will be retained from one semester to the next, and from one academic year to the next. If you have £2 worth of printing available in your account at the end of year 2 of your course, that sum will still be available to you at the start of year 3 of your course. The balances will also transfer with you if you transfer course within the university.
However, please be aware that there are no refunds. If you have £2 worth of printing remaining in your account at the end of your final year with the university, there is no mechanism to return the £2 to you. Please take care not to pay too much into your account as you near the end of your course.
