Writing Support
Many students feel that they would benefit from developing or enhancing their writing skills and tutors at the Study Skills and Access Unit are able to assist with this. Writing skills sessions are available as one-to-one appointments or as group workshops.
NOTE: This service is available to all undergraduates. For post-graduate students priority is given to dyslexic students and non-native English speakers; support for home post-graduates is subject to tutor availability.
Common writing concerns that can be covered in these sessions include:
- Academic writing style
- Structuring essays and reports
- Referencing
- Effective introductions and conclusions
- Developing proofreading skills
Many study skills topics are integral to successful writing. These include, for example:
- Time planning
- Reading strategies
- Note-taking
You may wish to cover these, or similar, topics with a writing or study skills tutor.
