Teaching, Learning and Assessment
The promotion and quality enhancement of teaching and learning and fostering innovation in practice is the core business and primary role of the Learning Development Section.
The fulfilment of the above stated role is facilitated via:
- providing academic staff development relating to teaching, learning and assessment
- providing opportunities for staff at the University to obtain accredited qualifications in learning and teaching at Higher Education level and membership of the Higher Education Academy (HEA)
- promoting quality of teaching, learning and assessment through the pedagogy of elearning and the use of innovative technologies
- supporting learning and teaching through policy-led initiatives, projects and targeted continuing professional development
- engaging in applied pedagogic research and development in the theory and practice of Higher Education learning and teaching
HELT
HELT, is the Higher Education Learning and Teaching qualification. This qualification is important for the accreditation of higher education teachers and membership of the Higher Education Academy. Further information about this can be found on these pages.
