Course Overview of the Accounting and Finance
This Accounting and Finance degree is an excellent springboard from which to launch a professional career in accountancy or finance.
The accounting and finance course is designed to provide you with a stimulating intellectual experience in order to foster a broad vocational accountancy education. The structure of the course is highly innovative and there is a paid placement opportunity for students embarking on the Honours route. This has proved extremely popular with both students and employers alike.

Placement Opportunities
The opportunity for a 12 month paid placement is a unique feature of this course and it is the only accountancy course in Scotland to offer this to students.
Employers who support the course through our placement unit also sponsor generous prizes to our students.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland currently recognise the placement experience as part of an integrative training contract and this will offer RGU graduates the opportunity to qualify as Chartered Accountants 12 months earlier.
Students on the Accounting and Finance course undertake a common foundation year with students who are studying on the more general business courses. This allows students to acquire a basic business understanding before developing their specialist knowledge within an Accounting and Finance context.
Professional Accreditation
The Accounting and Finance course prepares graduates for careers in all sectors of accountancy and finance with particular emphasis on further professional accountancy qualifications. This course is fully accredited with The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).
