The Department of Management combines Business Management, Human Resource Management, Public Policy and Economics. All disciplines have an established reputation for the delivery of quality courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and also has a strong background in consultancy and training for the corporate market.
Staff
The Department of Management is led by Professor Alex Russell with the support of departmental academic staff who teach in the areas of: - Business Management, Human Resource Management, Economics and Public Policy.
Teaching and Courses
Teaching staff in the department provide a wide range of knowledge and expertise in combination with establised practical and professional experience. Therefore, our courses and subjects offer knowledge of current theory and practice in the field of management. Courses are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge expected from an international management education programme. A wide range of courses are taught in Business Management, Human Resource Management, Economics and Public Policy.
In addition, the majority of our courses are either accredited or recognised by their professional body. The MBA (full-time, part-time and online) is AMBA accredited, the MSc Human Resource Management is recognised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the MSc Project Management is accredited by the Association for Project Management (APM).
Research
The Department of Management is active in research in the areas of Business Management, Human Resource Management, Economics and Public Policy. Research output feeds into our courses and informs the development, currency and design of all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. For example, the department has a well-establised reputation in Public Policy research and consultancy across the public and private sectors.
